CATHOLIC CHARITIES' 30TH ANNIVERSARY COMMUNITY PARTNERS LUNCHEON

SAN BERNARDINO CA - On March 4, 2010, Catholic Charities kicked off the first of four major events in celebration of our 30th Anniversary of ;Providing Help, Creating Hope in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Over 250 people came together to mark this milestone; a tribute to Catholic Charities; past, present, and future work on behalf of struggling families in our local communities.

Under the capable guidance of our Masters of Ceremonies, Mr. Wilfred "Bill" Lemann, Mrs. Kim Carter, and Mr. Don Averill, we welcomed staff from the founding years of Catholic Charities to join us in celebrating the agency 30years of service to the community.

A variety of community partners, and clients, helped to tell the story of Catholic Charities’ work in the community.

Dave & Sharon Fogal did a presentation of the destruction of their home during the 2007 Slide Wildfire, and Catholic Charities’ role in the rebuilding of their home. Their story included the finding of a plate in the powdered ash that read, “Life is fragile, handle with prayer.” It was the only item in their household that survived the blaze.

A highlight of the luncheon was a presentation by Kent Paxton on behalf of San Bernardino Mayor, Pat Morris. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino congratulated Catholic Charities on our 30th Anniversary Celebration and offered a wish for many more years of prosperity.
