Help On The Way For Long-Term Recovery Fire Victims

Help is on the way for Homeowners whose primary residence was damaged or destroyed due to the 2007 Grass Valley & Slides Wildfires and have insufficient resources to restore their home may apply for assistance. The Long-Term Recovery Program for the 2007 Grass Valley & Slide Fires which occurred in the San Bernardino Mountains has been established to assistance those individuals affected. The Grass Valley fire occurred on October 22nd, 2007, Northwest of Lake Arrowhead and Green Valley Lake near the Running Springs - Twin Peaks area.

The Long Term Recovery Program is a collaborative of voluntary non-profit agencies and individuals organized to provide long term recovery assistance on a case-by-case basis to the extentlimited resources are available. Funds are available for those who do not have adequate financial resources available to repair/rebuild their homes.

Approved households do not receive direct cash assistance. All assistance is paid directly to vendors involved in the rebuilding/repairing of homes. This is neither a government program nor an entitlement program. The Long Term Recovery Program will assist as many households as possible based on need and the discretion of the Long Term Recovery Committee. The amount of financial assistance or labor provided to a household depends on the specific needs and priority of each case.

Applicants are required to work with a Long Term Recovery Program caseworker to complete the required forms. This is a thorough, time-consuming, and invasive process that is based on national standards for long term recovery services. A completed application is not a guarantee of assistance nor is there an appeals process if an application is denied.
